Racing game developer Codemasters (CDM:AIM) gave an update on the release of its Fast and Furious Crossroads (F&F) game after Universal Pictures decided to delay the next film in the franchise by 11 months, due to the coronavirus. The shares fell 6% to 223p.
UNCERTAIN RELEASE DATE
F&F is being developed by Mad Studios which the company acquired on 28 November 2019 and was previously scheduled to launch in May this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The unique aspect of the game is that it will feature voiceover performances from Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson, the films main characters. In addition new cast members include Sonequa Martin-Green (STAR TREK: Discovery, The Walking Dead) and Asia Kate Dillon (BILLIONS, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum).
The game will allow Fast and Furious fans to directly experience the cars, action and gadgets they have been following over the previous eight instalments of the popular franchise.
The precise release date of the game will be announced in due course, but the company doesn’t expect a material impact on its results for the next financial year which ends 31 March 2021. This assumes the game will be released at some point between April and June of next year.
