Paul Waterman, CEO of specialty chemicals company Elementis (ELM) has sold 350,000 shares at 149p for a total value of £523,653 on 29 May.
Waterman’s latest share sale could be seen as controversial by Elementis shareholders.
Over a month ago, Elementis shareholders expressed dissatisfaction with the specialty chemicals company by writing an open letter to the board calling for change.
Liad Meidar, managing partner at Gatemore Capital Management - Gatemore Special Opportunities Fund (GSOF) currently holds over four million shares in Elementis - referred to the gulf between the fundamental strength of Elementis and the company’s persistently weak share price.
Over the past six months, however, Elementis’ share price has rallied, gaining 28% to sit at the 152p mark.
Waterman has defied calls for his resignation by activist investors.
