Damages Act 1996 - personal injury discount rate review
On the 15 July the Lord Chancellor announced that the 2024 review of the Personal Injury Discount Rate in England and Wales had been commenced. Under the provisions of the Damages Act 1996, a determination of whether the rate should be changed must be made within 180 days of this date.
Having consulted with the statutory consultees to the review and considered the available evidence, the Lord Chancellor intends to announce her determination on 2 December so that the chosen rate may be implemented via statutory instrument within the 180-day review period.
