Recyclus to recycle lithium-ion batteries from Servicesure
Technology Minerals Plc (LSE: TM1), the first listed UK company focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for battery metals, is pleased to announce that its 48.35% owned battery recycling business, Recyclus Group Ltd ("Recyclus"), will receive lithium-ion ("Li-ion") batteries for recycling from Servicesure Autocentres ("Servicesure"), a prominent network of more than 600 independent autocentres in the UK.
Under Recyclus' partnership with Slicker Recycling Limited ("Slicker Recycling"), Servicesure will send its waste Li-ion batteries to Recyclus for processing and recycling. The Li-ion batteries will be provided by Servicesure's EVSure member businesses. EVSure is a scheme launched by Servicesure to provide support and trusted traders for the growing electric vehicle ("EV") and hybrid aftermarket.
Recyclus' LiBoxes, which are UN-certified, ADR compliant - the highest global standard for transporting hazardous goods, will be deployed for the safe transport and storage of the Li-ion batteries. This sustainable and secure approach minimises risks related to the transportation of EV batteries. Simultaneously, it offers a vital storage solution for EV batteries within the Servicesure network's garages.
The transportation of these batteries to Recyclus' cutting-edge recycling facility in Wolverhampton, the only industrial-scale Li-ion recycling plant in the UK, will be provided by Slicker Recycling, the designated logistics partner. This strategic partnership establishes a foundation for a sustainable circular economy, ensuring responsible usage, transportation and recycling of Li-ion batteries within the EVSure network.
Robin Brundle, Director and Co-Founder of Recyclus Group, said: "As the first UK-based battery lithium-ion recycler at industrial scale, it is our mission to create a cradle-to-cradle sustainable circular economy for battery metals, assuring the supply of battery materials for future generations. We are delighted to now be working with EVSure through our trusted partner, Slicker Recycling."
Paul Dineen, GSF Car Parts Head of Servicesure Autocentres, said: "Our priority is to provide the best value for our network members. Through our partnership with Slicker Recycling, and in turn Recyclus, we have found what we believe to be the best solution for our members' waste lithium-ion batteries. Through our partnership, we will help reduce members' carbon emissions, improve their sustainability, and minimise waste management spend.
"This aligns with GSF Car Parts' wider aims to find innovative new solutions to apply sustainable practices to our part in the automotive aftermarket."
Laura Carter, Managing Director at Slicker Recycling, commented: "Long has sustainability and the circular economy been at the centre of the Slicker-Servicesure partnership, as we continue to provide a 'closed loop' solution for members' used oil and other workshop waste.
"Now, thanks to our alignment with lithium-ion recycling specialist, Recyclus, we are pleased to offer a sustainable solution for the growing needs of Servicesure's EVSure members."
