Aquis Exchange PLC
("Aquis", or the "Company")
Board Appointments
Further to the Company's announcement on 29 March 2022 and approval at the Annual General Meeting held earlier today, Aquis Exchange PLC (AQX.L, AQX.PL), the exchange services company, is pleased to announce that Richard Fisher has been appointed to the Board as Chief Financial Officer, and Dr. Ruth Wandhöfer and Fields Wicker-Miurin OBE have been appointed to the Board as Independent Non-Executive Directors, with immediate effect.
Richard Fisher first joined Aquis as Director of Finance in April 2021 and is based in London. Prior to joining Aquis, Richard was Director of Finance at Redwood Bank and other previous roles include Chief Accountant at RBS Group. Richard has assumed his duties as the Company's Chief Financial Officer following an orderly handover with current Chief Financial Officer, Jonathan Clelland. Jonathan will retain his roles as COO of the Group and CEO of Aquis Exchange Europe, and remain on the Board.
Dr. Ruth Wandhöfer joins Aquis alongside her duties as an independent Non-Executive Director at Permanent TSB, Digital Identity Net and Gresham Technologies. She also holds the role of Chair of the UK Payment Systems Regulator Panel. Ruth is a strategic adviser to the European Third-Party Payment Provider Association (ETPPA), a Partner at Gauss Ventures, member of the Advisory Board of RTGS.global and part-time CIO at GC Partners. Most recently she was an independent Non-Executive Director of the London Stock Exchange Group and Pendo Systems Inc. Furthermore, she has worked for the Commerzbank Real Estate Fund, the European Commission, the European Banking Federation and at Citi as Managing Director responsible at global level for the Regulatory & Market Strategy of the Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) business.
Fields Wicker-Miurin has a distinguished career with over 40 years' experience as an executive in financial services, a social entrepreneur focused on leadership, and a Non-Executive Director and committee chair of the boards of both global companies and government departments. From 1994-7 she led the transformation of the London Stock Exchange and the London equity markets while CFO and Strategy Director and from 2006-7 she was the only non-US member of the NASDAQ Technical Advisory Council. Fields was one of only 10 experts (and the only British one) advising the EU Parliament on financial services harmonisation in the lead-up to the Prospectus Directive. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director and member and chair of key committees of the main boards of BNP Paribas (the eurozone's largest bank) and Scor (the world's 4th largest reinsurance company) and is Deputy Chair of the Royal College of Art & Design. It is the intention, as part of the Company's succession planning process, that Fields will take over the Senior Independent Director role from Richard Bennett.
Commenting on the appointments Glenn Collinson, Chairman of Aquis Exchange PLC, said:
"We are delighted to announce the three new appointments to the Board, bringing a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to the leadership team, and helping us to drive forward towards our ambitious targets.
Richard has been a highly effective Director of Finance at Aquis over the past year, showing strong leadership and expertise. He has gathered considerable experience of the Company since joining which will put him in good stead for his new role as CFO. We are also very pleased to have Jonathan stay on the Board in the key roles of COO and CEO of Aquis Exchange Europe.
With Ruth and Fields, we have found people with incredibly impressive careers in financial services. Their highly regarded reputations within the banking industry and with regulators, alongside their expansive experience within the sector will help to drive continued success for the business."
