ITM Power PLC - Sheffield, England-based designer and manufacturer of electrolyser systems for green hydrogen products - Reduces iridium loading by a further 40% whilst still maintaining stack performance and longevity in what it calls a technical ‘milestone’ for its proton exchange membrane electrolysers. ITM Power says it has lowered loading by over 80% in the past few years, and met the EU’s 2030 precious metal loading target for PEM electrolysers in 2019. Its development of its next-generation stack platform, Chronos, is proceeding to plan.

Chief Executive Officer Dennis Schulz says: ‘As a costly raw material, reducing iridium benefits stack costs significantly. This loading reduction and our catalyst recovery and reuse processes will substantially reduce our consumption of critical raw materials and further lower our cost.’
