The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.
----------
SMALL-CAP - WINNERS
----------
Synthomer PLC, up 7.1% at 185.08 pence, 12-month range 118.00p-338.00p. The developer of highly specialised polymers said its third-quarter was in line with expectations. ‘We expect to make some earnings progress (on a continuing Group basis adjusting for the divested Compounds business), and to be modestly free cash flow positive in 2024, despite the absence of a broad-based macroeconomic demand improvement,’ it said.
----------
Evoke PLC, up 5.0% at 62.15p, 12-month range 49.18p-297.60p. Shares extend gains after a relief rally on Wednesday. Evoke owns the William Hill and 888 betting brands. The stock jumped 12% on Tuesday after the gambling sector was spared from regulatory scrutiny in the chancellor’s budget. Earlier in October, the Guardian reported that the Labour government was considering an up to £3 billion tax hit on the sector.
----------
SMALL-CAP - LOSERS
----------
Ferrexpo PLC, down 9.7% at 60.80p, 12-month range 38.15p-92.90p. The iron ore pellet maker, which operates in Ukraine, returns a sizeable chunk of the gains it has made during a bullish run this month. Since the end of September, the stock is about by around a quarter. The October gain stood at around 40% prior to Thursday’s slump.
----------
Card Factory PLC, down 5.6% at 85.81p, 12-month range 85.66p-144.25p. Card Factory shares went ex-dividend on Thursday, meaning new buyers do not qualify for the latest payout.
