1Spatial PLC on Wednesday announced it has signed a $1.4 million contract with the US Forest Service to improve its geospatial data.

The Cambridge, England-based data management software company said the five-year contract with the US Department of Agriculture agency is expected to generate annual recurring revenue of around $300,000, with the potential for future expansion.

The Forest Service manages 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands in the US. 1Spatial will provide an accurate data management solution to meet ‘the increasing demands and complexities of data governance’, and the Forest Service will utilise 1Spatial’s solution to improve its geospatial data and make informed decisions on things such as forest fire management and the preservation of healthy natural habitats.

1Spatial’s solution will involve its automated rules engine, 1Integrate, 1Data Gateway and its recently-developed add-in to Esri Ltd’s ArcGIS Pro interface.

Chief Executive Officer Claire Milverton said: ‘We are proud to announce that we have been selected by the US Forest Service to improve their data governance. This significant contract marks a major milestone for our company, as it represents our first engagement with this federal agency. Our patented rules engine, 1Integrate, combined with our innovative 1Data Gateway for ArcGIS Pro, offers a tailored solution to meet the US Forest Service’s specific data management needs. We are confident in our ability to improve data accuracy, expedite processing, and ultimately support the agency’s mission of protecting and managing America’s forests and grasslands.’

Shares in 1Spatial were up 6.8% at 58.75 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
