Marula Mining PLC on Friday said that it has started a ground magnetic geophysics survey programme at the Larisoro manganese mine in Samburu County, Kenya.

Marula Mining is a London-based mining company operating in Africa.

It has agreed to invest $1.8 million in an initial exploration programme, according to the terms of a mine support services agreement with Gems and Industrial Minerals Ltd.

The programme aims to increase Marula’s understanding of manganese mineralisation at Larisoro, and will aim to define a maiden mineral resource estimate.

To date, work by the geological team has confirmed strike extensions of the manganese mineralisation over 2.5 kilometres south of the existing open pit operations.

Mobilisation to the Larisoro mine site is underway.

The work should be completed by the end of September, Marula said, with the results of the geophysics programme available in the fourth quarter.

Shares in Marula Mining are currently suspended on Aquis.
