Audioboom Group PLC said on Friday that it had ‘boosted its position’ on the latest podcast industry rankings and grew its US market share.
According to Triton Digital’s download ranker, the Jersey-registered publisher of podcasts expanded its market share in the US by 15% over the last year with its creator network now responsible for 9.0% of downloads, up from 7.8% in February 2022.
The company has moved up one position on the US Triton Digital podcast ranker, overtaking the likes of radio giant Audacy, to become the fourth-largest podcast publisher operating in the country. Similarly, in the latest Australian ranker the company also rose to fourth position surpassing SiriusXM.
Chief Executive Officer Stuart Last said: ‘what is clear is that Audioboom continues to move faster than our competitors globally. In the US we have captured market share and become the 4th largest podcast publisher in the most important media market in the world.’
This recent bout of success follows the launch of new podcasts including Matt & Shane’s Secret Podcast and The Why Files, as well as the retention of key network podcasts including True Crime Obsessed, The Tim Dillon Show, and Crime Weekly.
Across the industry downloads have decreased by an average of 32% following Apple’s iOS17 update which changed how the Apple Podcasts app downloaded episodes. Audioboom welcomes the change ‘as it provides more accurate consumption data, which in turn will improve return-on-investment for brands advertising in podcasting and long-term revenue upside opportunity for publishers. ’
Shares in Audioboom were down 1.2% to 252.00 in London at market close on Friday.
