Babcock International Group PLC on Friday said it has been awarded a new contract by the French Ministry of Defence, to support Airbus SE’s helicopter fleet.

Babcock, an international defence company headquartered in London, will support the Airbus H145-D3 fleet of the Securite Civile agency of the French interior ministry, which performs rescue services throughout France.

The four-year contract will involve the maintenance of four Airbus five-bladed H145 helicopters, contributing to the 37 operated by the Securite Civile’s helicopter division, which are on call 24/7 throughout France and carry out 15,000 missions each year.

Vincent Delebecque, aviation director at Babcock France, said: ‘We are very proud to be responsible for the maintenance of these four new H145-D3 aircraft, reinforcing the very best of French know-how in the service of civil security. This contract shows our expertise supporting H145 and H135 helicopters and the trust our customers place in us.’

Shares in Babcock were down 0.6% to 396.80 pence each in London on Monday afternoon.
