Powerhouse Energy Group PLC on Monday said Acting Chief Executive Officer Paul Emmitt will take on the top role permanently.

Emmitt had agreed to become acting CEO for the Bingley, England-based non-recyclable waste-to-energy conversion firm back in September after CEO Keith Riley stepped down for ‘personal reasons’.

Emmitt has been with the company since 2021, serving as chief technical officer, as well as chief operating officer as of August 2022.

Earlier this month, the company announced that Non-Executive Chair Tony Gardner-Hillman intends to resign. However, he has agreed to remain in position until December 15, when David Hitchcock, a non-executive director, will become a temporary successor. The announcement of a permanent chair is expected to be made ‘in due course’.

Commenting on Emmitt’s appointment, Hitchcock said: ‘I am delighted that Paul has agreed to be appointed as [CEO] full time. This is an exciting time for the company, and I look forward to the future ahead for PHE and providing further updates to our shareholders in due course.’

Shares in Powerhouse were up 5.2% to 0.27 pence each in London on Monday morning.
