Trellus Health PLC on Monday said its resilience training and self-management solution for inflammatory bowel disease will be available under an initial trial with a health insurance company operating in the US state of New York.
Shares in Trellus were up 6.4% to 8.78 pence each in London on Monday morning.
The New York-based digital health platform provider said the initial demonstration project will be offered via the New York Medicaid health plan, available to more than 1.8 million members at the unnamed partner health insurance company.
The programme IS designed to enable IBD patients to ‘take charge of their health needs, access behavioral and emotional support in between office visits, and ultimately to improve outcomes’, Trellus said.
It said the partner company will pay for members’ enrolment and participation in the Trellus IBD programme, with a targeted maximum enrolment of 50 patients.
The contract is for an initial 12 months and can be extended by mutual agreement.
‘I am delighted to sign this business-to-business-to-consumer agreement with this New York State-based health insurer to offer the Trellus IBD program to up to 50 of its members over a 12-month period. Access to the Trellus IBD program will enable the insurer to empower its members to learn to self-manage their chronic conditions with confidence, and improve health outcomes at a significantly lower cost,’ said Trellus Health Chief Executive Officer Marla Dubinsky.
‘We look forward to reviewing the data from this initial 12-month term, which will further strengthen our evidence base as we continue discussions with other regional and national health plans, employers, health systems, gastrointestinal provider networks and pharmaceutical companies.’
