Zytronic PLC on Tuesday said its Chief Executive Mark Cambridge will step into the position of acting executive chair, as Chair David Buffham takes temporary leave.

The Tyne & Wear-based touch sensors manufacturer said that Buffham is taking a temporary leave of absence, due to a recent illness.

Cambridge has been CEO of Zytronic since 2008, after being appointed to the board in 2007.

The company explained that the temporary change will ensure stewardship and continuity of leadership.

Zytronic also said it is looking for a further independent non-executive director, in order to maintain a balance of independence and to comply with the QCA Corporate Governance Code.

‘The company also wishes to convey its best wishes to David for a speedy recovery,’ it adds.

Shares in Zytronic were up 4.9% to 118.00 pence each in London on Tuesday around midday.
