Clean Power Hydrogen PLC on Monday poached Chief Financial Officer James Hobson from AMTE Power PLC to become its new CFO.

Further, the firm said it signed a technology deal to roll out its membrane-free electrolyser technology.

The Doncaster-based green hydrogen technology & manufacturing company said Hobson’s employment will be effective from December 5, when its current CFO Clive Brook will retire.

Hobson will join from battery cells manufacturer AMTE Power, where he has been CFO since October last year.

Chief Executive Officer Jon Duffy said: ‘James’ expertise across the energy sector can be seen through his work with private and AIM listed companies across the past ten years and his knowledge will help us deliver on the opportunities ahead.’

Separately, Clean Power said it signed a technology cooperation deal with the operating company entity of Kenera Energy Solutions Ltd, Bentec GmbH Drilling & Oilfield Systems, to allow an acceleration of the roll out of the company’s technology as the market for hydrogen grows rapidly.

It did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Kenera is a newly formed business unit within leading drilling, engineering and technology company KCA Deutag Drilling Ltd.

Clean Power said the deal will bring together its MFE technology, which uses cryogenics to separate oxygen from hydrogen, and Kenera’s international client base and manufacturing capabilities.

Duffy added: ‘We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Kenera, whose parent company, KCA Deutag, is not only an investor in CPH2, but is also one of the leading energy sector manufacturing businesses in the world, adding valuable and immediate manufacturing capacity.’

The company said Kenera will produce up to 30 MFE220 units in Germany.

Shares were down 0.9% at 10,528.00 pence each on Monday afternoon in London.
