Dewhurst Group PLC on Tuesday named John Bailey, currently a divisional managing director, as its new chief executive, effective from October 1.

Bailey joined the London-based supplier of electrical components for lifts and keypads in 2008 and is currently managing director of its A&A Electrical Distributors business. During his 15 year tenure, Bailey also has been managing director of its TMP arm and played a role at board level.

Alongside Bailey’s appointment, David Dewhurst will step down as group managing director and will take up an executive role as a strategic adviser.

Chair Richard Dewhurst said: ‘John is a strong and strategic leader whose people and customer centric focus combined with his commercial experience make him ideally suited to lead the growth and future success of Dewhurst. John will be well supported by David Dewhurst in his new role of strategic advisor, who together with the group board, will ensure a smooth transition.’

Shares in Dewhurst were down 2.3% to 1,050.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
