Henley-on-Thames-based digital publisher XLMedia PLC on Friday named David King as chief executive officer, effective from July 1.

King is succeeding Stuart Simms, who had held the position of CEO since October 2019.

King most recently was CEO of JPIMedia, a publishing group that was bought by London-listed National World PLC in a reverse takeover in May of last year. Prior to JPIMedia, King was CEO at Time Out Group PLC and CFO at BBC Worldwide.

XLMedia said King led JPIMedia through a period of ‘considerable’ change; this included leading the digital acceleration programme.

Non-Executive Chair Marcus Rich said: ‘We are delighted to welcome David to XLMedia and believe that, with his significant digital publishing experience and proven track record of leading change, he will be a key asset in helping us capitalise on a number of growth initiatives.’

Shares in XLMedia were up 1.6% to 30.48 pence each in London on Friday morning.
