Ferrexpo PLC said on Tuesday it had appointed Jim North as its chief executive officer, effective immediately.

The Baar, Switzerland-based iron ore pellets exporter said Jim North, currently acting CEO since May 2020, will now assume the role permanently. He had previously been the chief operating officer since 2014. Before that he held senior operational management roles in numerous commodities with Rio Tinto PLC and BHP Group Ltd.

‘During his time as acting CEO, Jim has shown an adept ability to refocus the group’s strategy, further promote an inclusive leadership model, deliver a clear message on key topics relevant to stakeholders, whilst also continuing to deliver strong operational performance across the group,’ said Chair Lucio Genovese.

Shares in Ferrexpo were down 0.1% at 276.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
