Capita PLC on Monday said it secured an extension for its contract with the UK Department for Work & Pensions to deliver Personal Independent Payment assessments.

The London-based outsourcing services provider said the contract extension runs from August 2023 to February 2024.

PIP replaced the Disability Living Allowance in 2013 and is designed to help people with a long-term condition or disability towards leading independent lives via additional financial support.

Since 2013, Capita has been contracted by the DWP to deliver functional assessments in the Midlands and Wales, producing reports which are reviewed by government case managers alongside other evidence.

‘We are proud of our work delivering PIP assessments on behalf of DWP,’ said Capita Public Service Chief Executive Officer Al Murray. ‘This extension is testament to our strong track record for delivery and longstanding relationship with our client.’

Shares in Capita were up 1.7% to 27.77 pence each in London on Monday shortly after midday.
